A Little About Me
My name is Emma Kelly and I am an Accredited Professional, fully qualified counsellor, based in the quiet village of Rippingale, near Bourne. Being accredited means I have been independently assessed and meet high standards of training, experience, and ongoing professional development in counselling and psychotherapy.
A little about me: I bring both personal and professional experience of working with neurodivergence, disordered eating, and childhood trauma, alongside a wide range of other difficulties. My own life journey has included navigating a complex and at times deeply traumatic childhood and past relationships. These experiences have shaped who I am and allow me to work with empathy, sensitivity, and genuine understanding.
I understand how life’s challenges can disrupt daily routines, appear unexpectedly, and leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself. I also believe that healing and growth are possible, even during difficult times. Together, we’ll make sense of your experiences, explore what you’d like to change, and move towards a future that feels more aligned with who you truly are.
I am a grounded, down-to-earth and empathic counsellor. I am open-minded, non-judgemental, and deeply passionate about my work. Clients often describe me as easy to talk to, supportive, and human, with an appreciation for warmth and humour where appropriate.
I offer face-to-face counselling in a discreet, calm, and comfortable setting, as well as online sessions.
A significant part of my background includes over ten years working within the Police, supporting teenagers, adults, and older adults in the criminal justice system. I have also worked within charities including RNIB and Little Miracles, as well as the civil service and private sector. Prior to becoming self-employed, I worked as a counsellor at Little Miracles in Peterborough, supporting adolescents and parents of children with ADHD and Autism.
I offer both short- and long-term counselling and will work with you for as long as you need. While counselling is not always a quick fix, its impact can be lasting and life-changing. I recognise how difficult it can be to take the first step into therapy, but I truly believe it can be one of the most rewarding decisions you make for yourself.
As counselling is not a regulated profession, it’s important to choose a practitioner who works ethically and safely. I am a PSA Accredited Professional Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (PNCPS Acc), adhere to their Code of Ethics, and attend regular clinical supervision. I also complete a minimum of 30 hours of additional training each year to maintain high professional standards.
Areas of experience include: trauma, disordered eating, shame, anxiety, relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, low confidence and self-esteem, burnout and stress, neurodivergence, workplace challenges, and more.
I hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS.
